SCHOLARSHIP POSTINGS: (Updated weekly - copies of all applications below are in the senior counseling office):

TSAC BULLETIN & SCHOLARSHIP INFO: Deadlines: various-see below - The 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available for completion at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov . Any student planning to receive the TN HOPE scholarship must complete the application by SEPTEMBER 1, 2009.

Beyond the HOPE scholarship, below are several other TSAC administered programs with approaching deadlines.

TENNESSEE STUDENT ASSISTANCE AWARD: Eligibility is based on financial need determined by FAFSA completion. Priority is given to students who have submitted a FAFSA prior to MARCH 1, 2009.

NED MCWHERTER SCHOLARS PROGRAM: Eligible students will have a minimum 3.5 unweighted grade point average AND a minimum 29 ACT/1280 SAT. Applications can be completed atwww.tn.gov/collegepays.Applications for this scholarship, an official transcript through the 7th semester, and an official ACT/SAT score must be received by TSAC no later than FEBRUARY 15, 2009.

ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Eligible students will have a minimum 3.5 unweighted grade point average OR a minimum 24 ACT/1090 SAT AND a minimum 3.0 unweighted grade point average. Applications can be completed atwww.tn.gov/collegepays. Applications for this scholarship must be received by TSAC no later than MARCH 1, 2009.

MINORITY TEACHING FELLOWS PROGRAM (Loan Forgiveness Program): Eligible high school students must be a minority with a minimum 2.75 grade point average AND a minimum 18 ACT/860 SAT. Continuing college students must achieve a cumulative 2.5 grade point average or above. Applications can be completed at www.tn.gov/collegepays. Applications for this program must be received by TSAC no later than APRIL 15, 2009. This program does have an employment obligation.

DEPENDENT CHILDREN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Eligible students will be a dependent child of a law enforcement officer, fireman or emergency medical technician who was killed in the line of duty or permanently disabled in the line of duty while employed in Tennessee. Applications can be completed at www.tn.gov/collegepays. Applications, required documentation, and a completed FAFSA must be received by TSAC no later than JULY 15, 2009.

BRENTWOOD  ROTARY - Deadline January 15th - $2,000 (renewable) The Brentwood Rotary Club will award one scholarship to an oustanding candidate. Applicants must be show a record of community service, have 3.0 GPA or higher, and submit all application materials. Interact Club members are strongly encouraged to apply. MILITARY CHILDREN -Deadline: Feb 18th - $1500 - The Defense Commissary Agency is accepting applications for their Scholarship for Military Children Program.  Applicants must be children of active duty, Reserve/Guard and/or retired military personnel.  They must also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Please visit:  www.militaryscholar.org for application and information.  Applications must be received, not postmarked by February 18, 2009.

ESSAY CONTEST- Deadline: Feb 15th: $5,000 award. AFA Teen's Alzheimer Awareness Essay Contest. 1200 word essay contest, topic: "How has Alzheimer's disease changed or impated your life? FAFSA ONLINE: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. A FAFSA form MUST be filed as soon as possible after January 1, 2009. To file online, you will need a FAFSA PIN #   (see link below). You will need your parents' income tax information for 2008. If taxes have not been filed yet, you may estimate the information, and update it after the taxes are filed. Again, you do NOT have to wait for taxes to be filed to file your FAFSA.
